Dr. Erickson was born and raised in Coloma, Michigan. After graduating from Coloma High School, he entered Kalamazoo College, where he had the opportunity to intern at the National Institute of Dental Research, a part of the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. In addition, he studied art history for a year at the University of Bonn, Germany as part of his undergraduate education, before receiving his Bachelor of Arts in Health Science from Kalamazoo College. He then chose to attend the University of Michigan School of Dentistry for his dental education.
, Dr. Erickson was selected to represent the School of Dentistry at the Nippon Dental University in Niigata and Tokyo, Japan as part of a student exchange program. It was during this trip that he first became interested in Buddhism. Upon graduation from dental school, he purchased the practice of Dr. Edward Atwood in St. Joseph, Michigan and practiced for many years on Niles Road. He pursued a path of regular continuing education, culminating in a commitment for many years with the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies, one of the preeminent post-graduate dental schools in the world. As a graduate of the Las Vegas Institute (LVI), Dr. Erickson is well-trained in providing the highest level of care to his patients.
