His father also had unfortunate tooth aches and unwanted emergency dental visits. Fortunately they were able to find quality dental care and practice preventative dental care after moving to the states. This experience planted the seed for wanting to help people improve their quality of life through dentistry. Dr. Cheng knows what it feels like to get dental care and wants your dental experience to be the best. You can say dentistry runs in the family as his wife and sister in law are also dentists. Dr. Cheng graduated from dental school at University of Pennsylvania in 2001 and completed a post graduate residency at University of California San Francisco. At University of Pennsylvania he excelled in clinic and was one of two in his class to be accepted into clinical honors program where he provided care at Penn’s Medically Compromised Clinic. He worked closely with renown oral medicine director Dr. Michael Glick. At UCSF he focused his time in hospital dentistry and was awarded a certificate of outstanding resident from UCSF Surgery Center at Parnassus. After residency he was an associate at a cosmetic dental office for 3 years in San Francisco and also worked as a pediatric dentist for Contra Costa County Health Clinics. Prior to studying at Dental School, he attended Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo where he studied Biology. Since he began practicing dentistry, Dr. Cheng has kept up to date on many post graduate courses ensuring that his patients receive the most comprehensive and advanced dental care possible. Some of these courses include a two year study of Aesthetic Dentistry and Occlusion at F.A.C.E Institute and hundresds of hours on implant surgeries and prosthetics at various programs around the nation.
